Manifest Future is dedicated to tracking reality’s emulation of science fiction. Generations of writers, filmmakers and artists have contributed to a communal sense of what it is to be “futuristic”, and now the aesthetics and vocabulary of the future are being consciously and unconsciously brought into the physical world. The sleek visual code of the future creates a strong desire in the individual, connecting images with the often perfect society seen in films of the far future. Following in the footsteps of various films and stories, we tread towards what we believe to be a perfect world, but as this blog demonstrates our current surroundings are not what we have seen in films; rather we live in a hybrid reality, influenced by prescriptive visions of the future and incessant media control.
Originally started by the fictional Rebellion for Autonomous Future (RAF), Manifest Future and the RAF are actually projects by New York artist Benjamin Andrew.
